How do I embed Media Gallery media in a Trunk text box?
Media Gallery media (video, audio and images) can be embedded into many Trunk text boxes (for instance, Announcements, Syllabus, Assignments, Forums, Test & Quizzes...).
NOTE: Media Gallery media cannot be embedded into text boxes in the following Trunk tools: Resources, Drop Box, Site Information Display, and Email (Messages).
There are 2 methods for embedding Media Gallery media into a Trunk text box:
Method 1: Upload the media directly from the Kaltura icon located in the Trunk text box tools.
Method 2: Add existing media from your My Media space to the Trunk text box using the Kaltura icon located in the Trunk text box tools.
Note "Kaltura" is the company that created the Media Gallery tool and provides the streaming and storage service. Tufts University contracts Kaltura for providing this service.
Method 1: Upload the media directly from the Kaltura icon located in the Trunk text box tools.
This method does not require that the Media Gallery tool be added to a Trunk site. All instructors, Course Builders, TAs, Guest instructors, Librarians and Project site Organizers can embed Media Gallery media in a text box without the tool being added to the site.
If the Media Gallery tool is added to the site AND students (or project site participants) are given permission to upload media, they also can use this method for embedding media content in a Trunk text box.
To embed Media Gallery media in a Trunk text box, access the text box and place your cursor where you want the media embedded.
Click the "Kaltura" icon.
Click Upload
Select the media file on your computer, then click Open (or Select)
Once uploaded (which may take some time depending on the size of the file), click Next
Edit Name, Tags or Description, then click Next
When the media is completely processed, click Finish (or Add More Media).
Method 2: Add existing media from your My Media space to the Trunk text box using the Kaltura icon located in the Trunk text box tools.
This method requires that the Media Gallery tool be added to a Trunk site. By default, this method is available for instructors (and all site maintainers) if the Media Gallery tool is added to a site.
If the Media Gallery tool is added to the site AND students (or project site participants) are given permission to upload media, they also can use this method for embedding media content in a Trunk text box.
