How do I create a Media Gallery Collection?
Instructors and site Organizers can create Media Gallery Collections. A Collection acts somewhat like a folder, organizing a number of media content files (video, audio, images) into named containers.
Media content can be added to a Collection by direct upload to the collection or by selecting existing media from the Site Library or a user's My Media space.
To create a Media Gallery Collection, click on Media Gallery in the left tool panel.
Select a Collection Management type, then click Save.
The Management options for a Collection are as follows:
Instructor: Only instructors and Organizers (and other site administrators) may add items to, remove items from, or edit the settings of a Collection. Any public items are visible to all users. This collection management is preferred if the instructor does not need students to post media items.
Community: All site members (with uploading permission) may rearrange, add and remove items from the collection. This Collection management is preferred if instructor allows students to upload media to a Collection and the Collection will be managed by students. (See: How do I allow students to upload media to a Collection collaboration space (group media space)?).
Personal: Any site member (with uploading permission) may add items, but members may only view and manage the items they themselves added to the collection. If an item is private, only the original owner and instructors can view the item. This Collection management is preferred if instructor is using the Collection as place that students upload a media assignment. The media file, by default, can be seen only by the instructor and the individual student. (See: How do I allow students to upload media to a Collection as part of an Assignment?)
Owner: Only the collection owner may make changes to items in the collection. The item is not visible to others if the items are private. This is best for organizing private media items.
After clicking "Save" the display is returned to the Collection space with the new Collection selected. Once a media item is added to a Collection, the Collection is displayed within a bounding box.
