Known Test & Quizzes Tool Issues:

1- Audio Question "Unknown Publisher" Certificate

1- Audio Question "Unknown Publisher" Certificate

Issue: When a student attempts to answer an "audio" type question, they are required to accept an audio jar certificate to resolve java security issues.

Workaround: Student can safely accept the "unknown publisher" certificate and proceed with answering the question.

Status: Currently being investigated by vendor (CLE-10961) (ANI Sakai CLE 2.9.3.11)

2- Incorrect answer feedback cannot be edited when editing the published version of an assessment

Issue: If an instructor does not enter "incorrect answer" feedback text for a question when creating an assessment, they cannot subsequently add "incorrect answer" text when editing the published version of the assessment.

Workaround: None known.

Status: Currently being investigated by vendor (CLE-10830/SAM-2220)(ANI Sakai CLE 2.9.3.8)

3- Rich Text Editor box will not close

Issue: In the Test and Quizzes tool, the default for adding questions and answers is into a non-rich text editor box. There is a button on each of these boxes marked "Open/Close Rich Text Editor". When a user clicks on this button, the rich text editor opens but fails to close if clicked again.

Workaround: None known

Status: Currently being investigated by Trunk developers (Trunk Jira #430)

4- MathJax javascript does not work in Respondus browser

Issue: For an assessment requiring the Respondus lockdown browser (LDB), MathJax javascript does not work in the separate window that opens, so equations do not render.

Workaround: None known

Status: Currently being investigated by Sakai Foundation (CLE-10839) and vendor (CLE 2.9.3.10)

5- Question pool corrupted when a question with a table added to pool

Issue: When you add a question to a question pool that contains a table, the question has a corrupted format and all of the following questions have the same corrupted format. It places all of the the remaining questions in a pool table and it is not possible to draw questions from that pool table.

Workaround: None known

Status: Currently being investigated by Sakai Foundation (SAM-2274) and Trunk Developers (Trunk Jira #436)

6- Images in Pool Questions do not display in sites other than the site they are created

Issue: If an instructor creates a question pool that contain questions with image links from the site’s Resources, those images are not viewable when the question is used again on a different site, because they reference image files located on a site that the student does not have permission to view.

Workaround: The only way to ensure that question pool images are viewable by students when reused on a different site is to:

  • Upload the images used in pool questions to a separate Project site Resources (ideally, placed in a folder)
  • Make sure the folder (or the images) are “publicly viewable”
  • Link the images (using the CKEditor Insert Image function) to the image files located in the publicly viewable folder (or image) in the Project site Resources.

This will allow all future use of pool questions that contain images to be available to students.

Status: Currently being investigated by Sakai Foundation (https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAM-1596).

7. Immediate (Question Level) Feedback allows students to see feedback without answering the question.

Issue: When an instructor creates a Test/Quiz, and selects “immediate feedback” and selects “question level feedback”, and provides question level (correct/incorrect) feedback, a “Show Feedback” button appears above each question. A student can click this button and see the feedback before they answer the question. If the student answers the question and then clicks on the “Show Feedback” button, the proper correct/incorrect feedback is displayed.

Workaround: None known. Only use “immediate Feedback" on practice tests or quizzes.

Status: None.

8- When creating a Test/Quiz using "markup text", a question cannot begin with the word "question".

Issue: When an instructor creates a Test/Quiz, and selects "use markup text", a question cannot begin with the word "question". If a question starts with the characters "Question", the import tool will incorrectly import it and the Test/Quiz will be corrupted for all subsequent questions.  For instance, markup text cannot have the question:

8. (1 point)

Questionnaires can be administered in many different ways. Mailed questionnaires, if sent in a prepaid self-addressed envelope for returns, have the advantage of very high response rates.

True

*False

Workaround: None known. Rephrase the question or put a character in front of the question (example: a dash "-")

Status: Issue reported to vendor and Sakai community.
