How do I take an assessment? (Student)

Go to the course site, then click Test & Quizzes.

This displays your Test & Quizzes student assessments page.

The student assessment page is divided into 2 parts:

  1. The top part (Take an Assessment) contains links to any assessments or surveys that the instructor has published.
  2. The bottom part (Submitted Assessments) contains information on any assessment or survey you have submitted (or failed to submit). This includes your assessment Score (if the instructor has released the assessment score), the date and time you submitted the assessment and links to Feedback or Statistics (if, and when, the instructor has released Feedback and /or Statistics).

To take an assessment, click on the assessment name under "Take an Assessment".

This displays an introduction "Begin Assessment" page to the assessment.

The introductory page contain instructions and information about the assessment. If the instructor has created a "timed" assessment (as shown above), the time limit for the assessment is noted.  

Note: At this point (before clicking Begin Assessment) you can click Cancel and exit the assessment without any time loss.

Clicking Begin Assessment will display the assessment.

Answer the assessment questions, if each question is on a separate page, click Save after answering the question.

Clicking Save will save your answer evan if you loose internet connection.

After Saving your answer, click NEXT.

Note: If the assessment is delivered on a single page (many questions on one page) you can click "Save" any time you have answered a question.  In this case, there is no "Next" button.

If the assessment is timed, a warning is displayed when 5 minutes are left in the assessment. Click the "X" to remove the warning display.

When finished answering the questions, click Submit for Grading.

This displays the Submission Warning page.

Note1: Clicking Save will save your assessment and, if it is not a timed assessment, will allow you to return to the assessment at a later time (until the assessment due date and time expires). If it is a timed assessment, the timer will continue running  even if you log out of the assessment.

Note2: At the end of the time, on a timed assessment, the assessment is automatically submitted. Any answers that have been "Saved" will be recorded as part of the submitted assessment.

Click Submit for Grading.

This submits the assessment and displays a Submission information page.

You may want to copy the confirmation number.  If there is any dispute about the submission, this confirmation number will confirm your submitted answers to the assessment.
