How do I grade Short Answer/Essay questions?

Instructors must manually grade Short Answer/Essay type questions.

There are 2 methods for grading Short Answer/Essay questions:

  • Method 1: Grade each individual's answer
  • Method 2: Grade all of the student's answers

Go to Test & Quizzes.

Go to Test & Quizzes.

Under the Published Copies tab, for the selected assessment, click Select Action / Scores.

This displays the total Scores page.

Method 1: (Grade each individual's answer) - Click on the student's name.

This displays that student's submission.

Enter a Grade for the student's essay response.

Instructors can add comments to a student's feedback box. Students can see this feedback when, and if, you allowed Grader Comments feedback.

This will update the student's Final Score.
