How do I add a Calculated question to an assessment?
A Calculated question type presents a unique calculation that requires the user to solve.
A calculated question calculates new answers for every test, based on variables whose value changes each time. The answer is based on a formula, using those variables.
A variable definition has a name, a minimum and maximum value, and a number of decimal places.
A formula definition has a name, an mathematical expression that uses the variables, and a tolerance, so that answers within that tolerance of the answer are also considered correct.
Under the Working Copies tab, click "Select Action" for the assessment and select Edit.
Use the "Select a question type" dropdown box to select the Calculated Question type.
Add Question Text, then click Extract Variables and Formulas.
Assign the question to a portion of the assessment and/or a Question Pool. (Optional)
1. The question can be added to a specific portion of the assessment, such as Part 1 or Part 2 (depending on how many parts exist). Part 1 is the default location.
2. The question may also be added to a question pool, if desired. (See: "What is a Question Pool?")
Provide Feedback. (Optional)
Feedback is optional text available for students to view after the particular question is graded. This feedback will be released to students if the "Settings" for the assessment includes "Release Questions and the following" and "Question-level Feedback".(See: "How do I Edit the Settings for an assessment?")
