How do I add a Matching question to an assessment?

A Matching question presents users with a numbered list of choices and a corresponding drop-down list of matches.

Go to Tests & Quizzes.

Go to Tests & Quizzes.

Under the Working Copies tab, click "Select Action" for the assessment and select Edit.

Under the Working Copies tab, click "Select Action" for the assessment and select Edit.

This displays the assessment Edit page.

Use the "Select a question type" dropdown box to select the Matching question type.

This displays the edit Matching question page.

Add an Answer Point Value.

Click Add Attachments to browse for and select a file attachment if desired.

Add text for "correct" Choices and Matches, then click Save Paring

Use the Choice and Match text fields to create a correct pair, then click Save Pairing.

Note: The 2 examples above are listed as "new"

Note: the above choice has no match.  It is referred to as a "distractor" Students have to match this with "none of the above".

Assign the question to a portion of the assessment and/or a Question Pool. (Optional)

1. The question can be added to a specific portion of the assessment, such as Part 1 or Part 2 (depending on how many parts exist). Part 1 is the default location.

2. The question may also be added to a question pool, if desired. (See: "What is a Question Pool?")

Feedback is optional text available for students to view after the particular question is graded. For Matching questions, the feedback option is offered for correct and/or incorrect answers, if desired. This feedback will be released to students if the "Settings" for the assessment includes "Release Questions and the following" and "Question-level Feedback".(See: "How do I Edit the Settings for an assessment?")

Click Save.

Click Save.

This places the Matching question in the assessment questions list.
