How do I upload audio to the Media Gallery tool?
Instructors and site Organizers can upload audio files to the Media Gallery tool and distribute them to students and participants. Audios can be uploaded to either the "Site Library", "Collections" or "My Media".
Site Library: Audios uploaded to the Site Library can be viewed by all users having an account on the site. The audios (along with any other media uploaded to the Site Library) are represented by thumbnail images on the right of the display. When clicked, the audio will open in the Media Gallery player located on the left of the display. Media content in the Site Library is not organized into folders.
Collections: Once a Collection has been created (See: How do I create a Media Gallery Collection?), audios can be uploaded to a particular Collection. The Collection acts much like a folder, organizing a group of audios (or other media) into an isolated grouping. Audios uploaded to a Collection can be viewed by all users having an account on the site. The audios (along with any other media uploaded to the Collection) are represented by thumbnail images on the right of the display. When clicked, the audio will open in the Media Gallery player located on the left of the display. Audios uploaded to a Collection are also, by default, available in the Site Library.
My Media: Instructors and Site organizers can upload audios to their My Media space. Audios uploaded directly to the My Media space are not, by default, available to site participants. However, Instructors and site Organizers can "add" an audio from their My Media space to any Collection or to the Site Library at any time (See: How do I add media from the My Media space to the Site Library or to a Collection?). All audios uploaded to either the Site Library or to a Collection are also available (to the owner) in their My Media space. The My Media space contains all of the media files an owner has uploaded to any Trunk site Media Gallery tool. In this sense, instructors and site Organizers can upload media ONCE and have it available to "add" to any Site Library or any Collection on any Trunk Course or Project site.
To upload an audio to the Media Gallery tool, click on Media Gallery in the left tool panel.
This displays the Media Gallery tool home page.
Note: The Media Gallery tool may not be listed in your tool list. You can add the Media Gallery tool using the Site Editor / Edit Tools function. (See; How do I add or remove tool on my Course or Project site?)
Note: During the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 Media Gallery pilot program, the Media Gallery tool must be added to a Trunk site by a Trunk Administrator. Contact trunk@tufts.edu
